The Story of Coppélia

Set in a quaint European village, Coppélia tells the whimsical tale of Swanhilda, a spirited young woman, and her fiancé, Franz, whose curiosity leads to a delightful comedy of errors. When Franz becomes infatuated with Coppélia, a mysterious and beautiful figure sitting motionless on the balcony of Dr. Coppélius’s workshop, Swanhilda grows jealous. Unbeknownst to the villagers, Coppélia is not a real girl but an exquisite life-sized mechanical doll crafted by the eccentric toymaker, Dr. Coppélius.

Driven by curiosity and determination, Swanhilda sneaks into the workshop, uncovering the secret of Coppélia’s mechanical nature. What follows is a series of playful misadventures, clever disguises, and humorous antics as Swanhilda outwits Dr. Coppélius and saves Franz from the toymaker’s peculiar plans. Ultimately, love triumphs, and the village celebrates the joyful union of Swanhilda and Franz with exuberant dancing and festivity.

Infused with humor, romance, and vibrant choreography, Coppélia—known as “The Girl with Enamel Eyes”—is a timeless ballet that captivates audiences with its blend of mischief and heartwarming charm.
